In Oxford, William Faulkner’s last home, Rowan Oak, was built before the Civil War. When the author purchased the property in 1930, it was known as “The Bailey Place.” He lived there until his death in 1962. Ten years later, his daughter Jill sold Rowan Oak to the University of Mississippi.
