An Oxford New Year's Motorcycle Tradition

Published

on

Across the country, motorcyclists brave the cold on New Year’s Day. Members of a group in Oxford have been riding together on the first day of the year for nearly three decades. Rain or shine, sleet or snow, they suite up to usher in a year of favorable riding conditions. Plus, it’s a good excuse to have lunch with friends to celebrate the new year.
This year, the group, lead by former OPD chief Mike Martin, left the Chevron on Molly Barr Rd. (at McClarty Dr.) and headed east to eat at Vanelli’s in Tupelo, Miss. Before leaving, the group reminisced on past years when the weather wasn’t as nice as today.
