Consider the Sandwich

Earlier this week, we made the case for barbecue as a food group over on the Garden & Gun blog. With Memorial Day weekend on the horizon, we’ve had barbecue brain all week long. Today, we consider the barbecue sandwich, which might just be the ideal vehicle for ‘cue consumption. It’s inexpensive, portable (if sometimes a little messy), and it delivers meat, sauce, and slaw all in one handheld bite.

In fact, we have such great respect for the barbecue sandwich that we once made it the subject of an entire issue of Gravy.

Hungry for more? Check out Garden & Gun‘s round-up of the South’s top 21 barbecue sandwiches and see if your favorite made the cut.
