Memphis at Ole Miss: Chucky Would Have Been Proud

It was not only one of our long-awaited games to hatch our first 4-0 season since 1970, but also a much anticipated commemoration for the enduring spirit of Chucky Mullins. Staff writer Sam Mitchell filmed some of the memorable moments in the Grove from the Memphis at Ole Miss game, as well as some shots from the game on the sidelines.

Any true Ole Miss Rebel fan knows the story. The re-telling of the story, as well as the endearing statue that remains at the foot of the football stadium, is like a verse in the bible of Ole Miss to many of its fans and spectators.
Mullins has become a legend in his own right not only in his past portrayal of sportsmanship and passion for the game of football, but also with his ideals and goals for the spread of diversity and acceptance among all those surrounding him. He played not only with his hands and feet, but also with his heart. He is a sure hero to many and he is truly missed by all.
The Ole Miss team played their hearts out in his honor this past weekend and Coach Freeze even commemorated him in his press conference speech, noting that “Chucky would have been proud, especially with the baby blues”, a color that had been fond to Mullins.
The Rebels were ultimately victorious in their ploy for victory, and ended with a final score of 24-3. For more memorable moments preparing for the game in the Grove as well as photos from the sidelines, take a look at some of the photos that Sam Mitchell captured.
