Ole Miss Students Have New Way to Go Home for Holidays

megabus_backWe’re only a few weeks away from Thanksgiving, and this year Ole Miss students may find traveling home for the holidays a little easier.
Megabus rolled into Oxford less than a year ago and has continued to provide service to various destinations, including Jackson, Memphis and New Orleans.  However the cheap ride now has some competition.
Ole Miss has partnered with the “largest college break transit service in the United States,” according to the Ole Miss website, and it’s called BreakShuttle.
The site says the service is aimed at providing students with a reliable transportation method for university-scheduled breaks throughout the school year.
Just like Megabus, BreakShuttle provides services to a limited number of cities when departing from Oxford. BreakShuttle travels to Birmingham, Atlanta, New Orleans, Nashville and to Jackson.
Tickets for Thanksgiving Break are on sale for BreakShuttle now with prices ranging from $79 to $89, depending on the destination.

Megabus’s destinations out of Oxford are a little more limited, but the difference in the fare is noticeable. For a round trip to any of the destinations on a Megabus from Oxford during the week of Thanksgiving break, the price doesn’t top $65.

NewsWatch 99 reporters Miriam Cresswell and Anna Beth Higginbotham took the Megabus from Oxford to Memphis to get a feel for the ride.
