OHS Hosts Naturalization Ceremony for 76 New Citizens

Seventy-six new citizens from 31 different nations around the globe were sworn in as United States citizens in front of Oxford High School students, teachers and visitors on Nov. 17 in the new high school gym.
The ceremony was the first of its kind to be held in a public high school in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. Charles Overby, Chairman and CEO of The Freedom Forum, was the guest speaker and presiding over the naturalization ceremony was the Honorable Sharion Aycock, Chief United States District Judge.
As part of the ceremony, the Oxford High School Marine Corps JROTC presented the the colors, and the Oxford High School Orchestra and Concert Choir performed The National Anthem and America the Beautiful.
