Heaton: ‘Meet My Mississippi’ Perfect for State Poem

In Mississippi, the table is always set for unexpected guests. Extra glasses wait on shady porches. People take time to visit. Families are treasured. Greetings like, “How’s your momma n ‘em?” are given considered response. Music, food, magnolia and honeysuckle — this is the Mississippi we love.

Patricia Neely-Dorsey’s words in “Meet My Mississippi” tells the story that needs to be told about the Magnolia State.
