An Oxford girl met a Yankee boy way up north, but their wedding will be held in the bride’s hometown this fall.

Iris Howorth met Jonathan Holt three years ago during their college years while she was at Smith College and he attended University of Massachusetts. After being accepted to the Teach for America program in New Orleans, the Southern belle brought Holt and a few others from the area to Mississippi en route to their new home and introduced them to pimento cheese.
The couple will be married Oct. 3, 2015, at the Howorths’ home, after a grand proposal April 24 at Chalmette High School in Louisiana thanks to the help of some of their students.
