Mugshots Grill & Bar will be opening in Oxford next year bringing a somewhat different offering for those seeking great food at reasonable prices in a laid back atmosphere. We talked with owner Cliff Rayburn recently about the new Oxford location.
HottyToddy.com: Cliff, it’s always wonderful to be getting a new restaurant. Tell us when we can anticipate the arrival of Mugshots.
Cliff Rayburn: August 2016 should be when we open or in about 10 months.
HottyToddy.com: Where will you be exactly?
Cliff Rayburn: We will be located in Galleria II in building “O”. That will not mean anything right now to our customers, however, we’ll be highly visible when the new center opens.
HottyToddy.com: How many Mugshots Grill & Bars are there presently?
Cliff Rayburn: About 14-15 with the closest one to Oxford in Starkville. I own one in Tuscaloosa presently.
HottyToddy.com: What makes Mugshots unique?
Cliff Rayburn: We serve a variety of gourmet burgers and have great salads in addition. It is truly a full menu with a full bar. The aesthetics are most appealing to young professionals and college students. We hire primarily students who enjoy the fun and noisy atmosphere. It is a most relaxing laid back environment.
HottyToddy.com: Will you be open for lunch as well as dinner?
Cliff Rayburn: Definitely. Our hours will be 10 a.m. to11 p.m. most days. We cater to the sporting public as we will feature several large screens for game viewing.
HottyToddy.com: Tell our readers about yourself.
Cliff Rayburn: I grew up in Hattiesburg and worked at Mugshots while attending MSU. This is where I learned the business from the ground up. I was truly impressed with the business in every respect and am now involved full time.
HottyToddy.com: Why Oxford?
Cliff Rayburn: I know the city well having traveled here multiple times. I first connected to Oxford in 2007. It’s completely different now. The market has grown considerably. I wanted something new in a great, centralized location for the reason of selecting Galleria II.
HottyToddy.com: We have not discussed pricing.
Cliff Rayburn: A $12 meal typically includes the entree, drink, side and tip. French fries come with every burger.
HottyToddy.com: It sounds as though success awaits here in Oxford in Galleria II.
Cliff Rayburn: Our motto is “Having A Good Time.” Students enjoy visiting with their friends including our employees. We have an inviting restaurant that will be right at home here. We seat around 140 with an outdoor patio that accommodates another 40 customers.
