Oyster & Seafood: Living Up to the Hype

Oyster & Seafood

As one of Oxford’s newest restaurants located off of the Square, you may wonder what the draw is at Oyster & Seafood at 1518 West Jackson Avenue.

General manager Justin Hill says that menu variety keeps the restaurant’s fans coming back. “We offer seafood prepared several different ways, from grilled to blackened to fried,” Hill said. “It’s all fresh and made to order on the spot.”

And while Oyster & Seafood regularly promotes itself in the local press, on Kroger receipts and via a billboard on Highway 6, Hill says that most guests come in after reading a positive online review or after hearing a friend talk about a favorite entree. “A couple of Oyster & Seafood’s best sellers are the steam plates and bacon-wrapped salmon,” Hill said. “Our chef, Leif Miller, will be introducing several new items in 2016, such as additional grilled items for the lunch menu, lamb chops, and shrimp and grits.”

In addition to its popular lunch and dinner offerings, Oyster & Seafood has a full bar and several opportunities to take advantage of discount promotions. “On Sundays, you can bring in your church bulletin and receive 10% off of your order,” Hill said. “And, in addition to the coupons on the reverse side of Kroger’s receipts, we also randomly run specials on our Facebook page; just watch for them, because they can appear on any day.”

Hill is quick to point out that Oyster & Seafood has a casual and family-friendly environment that invites you to come as you are. “We’ve become a lunch and dinner destination for local singles, students, couples and families,” Hill said. “It’s a great place for friends to gather over lunch or happy hour, couples to enjoy a date night, or families to connect over Sunday lunch.”
