150 Children, Parents and Grandparents Attend OUUMC Annual Easter Egg Hunt
About 150 children, parents and grandparents participated in the annual Oxford-University United Methodist Church Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday.
The annual event has been held for decades according to OUUMC member Whitney Robinson who organized the event which this year was held at Avent Park.
Eggs, all plastic and stuffed with goodies, were purchased from Sunny Bunny Easter Eggs which is a company that employs individuals with disabilities to package the eggs.
“The church youth group hid the eggs in three different areas for pre-school, lower and upper elementary. We had 1500 eggs and I think all were found,” Robinson said.
Just before the 4 p.m. Easter Egg Hunt, the temperature dropped several degrees and there was a slight rain with some sleet. The sky cleared, however, as a prayer was said for “sunshine and a safe hunt.”
“We got both, sunshine and nobody got hurt,” Robinson said with a smile.
