The Polar Express: A Train Ride to the North Pole
This holiday season, The Polar Express will arrive in Batesville, Mississippi, to whisk children and adults away on a magical journey to the North Pole.
Inspired by the children’s book “The Polar Express,” the train ride will begin in Batesville and will travel to Grenada, Mississippi, also known on the ride as the North Pole. When the train reaches its destination, the passengers will meet Santa and his helpers, who will give each child a special gift in honor of storyline from “The Polar Express.”
“Once onboard, cheerful, dancing chefs serve passengers hot chocolate and cookies while they read along with the classic children’s book, ‘The Polar Express,’ by Chris Van Allsburg,” said Angela Lane, vice president of sales and marketing for Premier Rail Collection. “Santa and his helpers greet passengers at the North Pole and then board the train, where each child is given the first gift of Christmas, a silver sleigh bell.”
The train will then begin its journey back to Batesville, where, just like the boy from the story, passengers will depart the train with memories and a single silver sleigh bell to carry with them.
Premiere Rail Collections operates eight similar short train rides in communities across the nation. This is the second year that the Batesville-Grenada route has been in operation.
“One of the most fun aspects of The Polar Express Train Ride is that children are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the ride,” Lane said. “Many parents do as well.”
The train ride is open to guests of all ages and families with four departure times to accommodate any schedule. Make the holiday season special by booking a ticket to meet Santa and experience a classic children’s story in person.

It is the Grenada Railroad but the Polar Express ride itself only goes to Pope and back.

Lacy, true, but in keeping with the magical holiday experience and authentic storyline, the Polar Express travels to the North Pole! 😉 It departs Batesville Mississippi Train Station and takes about 30 minutes to reach the North Pole, and 30 minutes back again. The Polar Express travels on the Grenada Railroad, owned by Iowa Pacific Railroad. Our Facebook page has local updates! http://www.Facebook.com/GrenadaRailroad
