The return of warmer weather, cloudless skies, and sunnier days means one thing – spring has arrived.
It’s time to do a little spring closet cleaning by packing up your parkas and trading them for some of spring’s hottest new styles.
If you’re in need of a closet makeover, you may want to check out Popfizz on the Oxford Square, Oxford’s newest clothing boutique.
Popfizz, located on South Lamar across the street from Material Girls and the Wine Bar, is an adorable boutique filled with everything an Ole Miss or Oxford girl could ask for.
Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, a shopper can find swimwear, formal wear, footwear and everything in-between. Jewelry and fun gifts can also be found lining the store’s clean, white walls.
The store opens with several racks of swimsuits in many colors, styles and sizes, and ends with several different styles of shoes. Dresses, shorts, tops, rompers and skirts can be found throughout the rest of the store.
The boutique even offers a wide selection of active wear and, my personal favorite, sleepwear. Any girl in Oxford would be hard pressed to walk into Popfizz and not find something she’s dying to have.
During my first Popfizz experience, I was pleased to find a good range of prices for good quality clothing. For the most part, items were priced reasonably, but you could also find a few items to splurge on.
I found myself reaching for the lower-end items, but it was fun to admire the variety of pricier dresses and skirts. A large selection of higher-end formal dresses were present.
Cute, casual clothing can also be found. Fun tank tops, flowy pants, and adorable sundresses were just a few of the pieces that caught my eye. The overall clothing style reminded me of the brand Free People, but with more edge. Denim, of all different qualities, was found in the store.
While the prices were great, the thing that I found most exciting was the uniqueness of the merchandise. More times than not, stores on the Oxford Square carry similar clothing styles, but Popfizz buyers did a great job of finding trendy pieces that were different than anything I have seen before.
I tried on some really fun and different pieces that were a little out of my comfort zone, and ended up purchasing a really unique cobalt blue romper that I am thrilled to wear very soon. I left the store with the realization that Popfizz was my new favorite find, and I will definitely be back soon.
Aside from merchandise, the store is filled with prettiest decorations. Cowhide rugs, white leather furniture, and simple décor make the store seem sophisticated. I had just as much fun admiring the beautiful furniture as I did admiring the beautiful clothes.
Another positive was that the building smelled fantastic. Delicious smelling candles were placed throughout the store. Walking in just to smell that floral candle would have been well worth the trip.
Lastly, the staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. I was greeted with a warm smile when I arrived and was told to have a great day when I left.
More than once, I needed help choosing a size or grabbing a hanger from a tall rack, and the women working were happy to assist. They offered great style tips, and were able to point me in the direction of the aforementioned cobalt blue romper that I am now in love with.
These two women made the shopping experience at Popfizz easy, fun, and extremely enjoyable, which are three things that do not always happen when shopping.
The only downside to Popfizz was that it was not very petite-friendly. While I did love the purchase I made, I would have liked to have found a skirt or a pair of ripped jeans as well.
While I know most boutiques do not offer petite sizes, I have been to a few that offered free alterations, and Popfizz did not.
While the store is new and not fully set up yet, I would have been more inclined to purchase more items if I could have had them altered on location. However, the positive experience I had while shopping at Popfizz did outweigh this minor inconvenience.
If you’re looking for the perfect staples to spice up your wardrobe, I highly recommend Popfizz. You will find unique pieces at great prices, and you will have a pleasant shopping experience. This boutique may have not been open for long, but I am willing to bet it will be your new favorite one stop shop on the Oxford Square.
