University of Mississippi’s Jim Taylor will represent the Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association as the Government Affairs Liaison at the Political Affairs Conference April 14-15 in Washington DC.
“It is an honor to represent the industry though the MHRA (Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association,” said Taylor, associate professor of Nutrition and Hospitality and active board member of the MHRA. “While in Washington, I will attend the National Restaurant Association Public Affairs Conference to better understand how legislative issues and agendas may directly affect the restaurant industry both nationally and in our state. On the second day, we will visit Capitol Hill and meet with representatives from our state and nationally to discuss how their votes can change the landscape of the industry.”
The Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association was founded to help business owners in the restaurant and hospitality trade. Some highlights from their 2013-2014 Legislative agenda included the Soft Drink Excise Tax, Alcohol Excise Tax, and have saved an average of $10,000 over the past four years for business owners through their Government Affairs.
