SFA: The Tamale Trail at Ten

In 2005, oral historian and photographer Amy C. Evans set out to document the tamale culture of the Mississippi Delta for the Southern Foodways Alliance. That groundbreaking work became our Hot Tamale Trail, which remains one of our most popular projects to this day.

Innumerable articles were written about the Trail. We won awards. And I made life-long friends.” ~Amy C. Evans

Ten years later, Amy has created a Tumblr site to celebrate that work. It’s a beautiful collection of her favorite encounters and stunning photography, along with updates on the people and places she highlighted a decade ago. Take some time to wander the tamale trail with us once more.
