Charles L. Mays is one of such fans. He is a retired Southern Baptist pastor from Water Valley, Mississippi now living in Sherwood, Arkansas.
Last year, he met Ole Miss football head coach Hugh Freeze, basketball head coach Andy Kennedy and Ole Miss Athletics’ director Ross Bjork at the Ole Miss Tour bus in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He said in the email: “I had these pics made with them, Hugh Freeze signing my Ole Miss Rebel Helmet. (Note Scripture verse on Helmet) Said that was one of his favorite verses. Coach Freeze is ‘The Real Deal.'”
The scripture verse is 1 Corinthians 15:57 that reads “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
