A preliminary autopsy report revealed that an infant whose mother was charged with manslaughter died from drowning in a bathtub.

On April 28, officers with the Oxford Police Department responded to 1101 Frontage Road at 4 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive infant. When officers arrived, they began CPR until an ambulance arrived.

The baby was pronounced dead at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

The child’s mother, Stephanie Henry, 31, was arrested on April 29. She was indicted June 6 by a grand jury on a charge of manslaughter-culpable negligence.

According to the indictment, Henry was under the influence of narcotics when she took the 5-week-old child with her into the bathtub and fell asleep, causing the infant to drown.

If convicted, Henry faces two to 20 years in prison.
