Hover Helmets is a new company that takes collecting sports memorabilia to the next level.

It is a patented design with a four- inch mini-football helmet. The base of the stand illuminates the helmet with a built in LED light. Once plugged in, the helmet will rotate and hover.

Sports fans can now purchase an Ole Miss Hover Helmet for homes, offices, or tailgating in the grove. The company works with each team to ensure the helmets feature the latest team artwork.

President of the company Michael Wydner came up with the idea for Hover Helmets a few years ago.

“I realized this idea was so unique and would be a great collectible item that is unlike anything else out there. There are so many hats, tents, blankets you can buy, but this is a truly one of a kind item.”

The company was launched in July after it took a few years to get the technology up and running and work out the details of the product. Hover Helmets is an Alabama-based company, and currently offers 27 different collegiate designs.

“Since we are based out of Danville, Alabama, we absolutely love SEC football and started with 14 SEC designs. We cherry picked a few other teams on the side, but we would like to offer all Collegiate team designs before we expand to NFL and MLB designs,” Wydner said.

Hover Helmets offers designs for: SEC, AAC, ACC, BIG 10, BIG 12, C-USA, MWC, PAC 12, WCC, and INDEPENDENT teams.

Right now Hover Helmets are only available online at hoverhelmets.com, or on Amazon.com.

“We wanted this to grow very slowly and actually turned down retail locations because we want to make sure we can handle that kind of growth,” Wydner said.

The Ole Miss Hover Helmet is available for $99.99 on hoverhelmets.com. Ole Miss fans interested in purchasing one can enter the coupon code “Mississippi” for a 10 percent discount at checkout.

“Whether you are an 8-year-old boy, or a 90-year-old woman, the Hover Helmet is very universal for all sports fans,” Wydner said.
