This week the Ole Miss Rebels continued their winning streak against the Fresno State bulldogs, and fan fashion continued to stun in Grove.

Saturday’s cool temperatures were met fondly by Rebel fans, and tailgaters didn’t have to wake up quite as early to start Groving. With the weather feeling more like football season than ever, Ole Miss fans showed off their best navy looks for Saturday’s game.

Madison Newcomb
Madison Newcomb

Madison Newcomb from Jackson, Mississippi is no stranger to the Grove. Her grandparents live in Oxford, and she’s been coming here for years.

“I just love the vibe of the Grove,” she said. She chose to mix and match several interesting pieces for her look, but her favorite part of her outfit is her sunglasses. “I stole these from Gigi Hadid,” she explained, citing the supermodel as her style muse.

Anna Ellis
Anna Ellis

Anna Ellis from Chicago, Illinois loves feeling at home in the Grove. She shows off her boho style in this outfit from Free People. We’ve seen lots of girls in floppy hats like these, so we had to ask just how helpful they are in blocking the sun.

“The hat actually doesn’t help that much, but when you’re in the shade, it’s so much better than wearing sunglasses,” she said. Ellis also loves experimenting with boho pieces, but one thing she doesn’t like to see in the Grove is “When people wear skintight things — you’re going to a football game, do you really need to be wearing that in the day time?”

Greg Miko

With the cool breeze blowing through the Grove on Saturday, it really began to feel like football season. Ole Miss junior Greg Miko was excited about this change in weather.

“It was the first day that it wasn’t too hot so I decided to break out the sport coat,” he said. Mike says he loves to dress up for the games and hang out with his friends in the Grove. “I love the atmosphere and the people that live here, I’ve never had a bad time at Ole Miss,” he said.

Sara Nevin Jones

Sarah Nevin Jones from Chattanooga, Tennessee has unlocked every college girl’s secret to great style: her friends. The two-piece set she’s wearing here came straight from her friend Gracie Davis’ closet.

“I love to share clothes and outfit ideas with my friends, you should really talk to them,” she said. Her friends are also her favorite thing about the Grove. “You get to see everybody,” she said “especially people you might not have seen in a while, it’s great to just catch up and hang out!”

Devin McCreary

Devin McCrary is all the way from the University of Oklahoma for his first time in the Grove. He is the guest of a friend from his summer job, who also lent him this perfect Groving shirt.

“This is the best tailgating I’ve ever seen,” he said earnestly. Was the Grove everything he thought it would be? “Yes, and so much more,” he said.

Stephanie Marasco

Stephanie Marasco from Del Rey Beach, Florida is here this weekend for her daughter, sophomore Mariella Marasco. She pulled her outfit together from things she already had in her closet.

“When I knew this week was a blue game I saw this shirt and I knew I had to wear it,” she said. Marasco is loving the festivities here at Ole Miss, “It’s lively and energetic and a fun place for football games,” she said. She loves the decor of the tents, especially the chandeliers, televisions and candelabras.

Thomas Nevins from Illinois is the father of Amanda Nevins, a sophomore. He brought his outfit together from several local stores including Neilson’s on the Square, where he scored these awesome plaid shorts.

“I can’t stay away from the Grove,” he said, he’s been here five times since his daughter started school here last year. His favorite thing about the Grove is the people. “I’m always having a good time at Ole Miss!” he said.

Caroline Harris
Caroline Harris

Caroline Harris, an 11-year-old Oxford native,  has been coming to the Grove since she was little. Her top is from the Tupelo Flea Market, and her bottoms are from Sorella. She gets her inspiration for outfits from watching other people in the Grove.

“I love getting to be in the Grove with my family and friends,” she said. When the time comes for college where does Caroline plan on going? She said, “Ole Miss, of course!”

Jeffery Peavy is a recent Ole Miss graduate from McComb, Mississippi. He studied costume design and technical theater while at the University. He got his top from Landry’s on the Square bottoms from topman.com. Since he knows a thing or two about style, Peavy gave us his fashion predictions for this season in the Grove.

“I’m seeing a lot of rompers, cute sandals, booties, lots of wedges as well,” he said. He also sees a trend in more comfortable wear, and less constricting or more traditional outfits, “We’re not going to be seeing EasterSunday in the Grove,” he commented.

Lorne Ingle
Lorne Ingle

Lorne Ingle from Birmingham, Alabama stepped into the Grove straight out of the 70s in this boho ensemble. She says her style inspiration is “Free People, Free People, Free People,” which is where she got these amazing flared jeans. Her favorite Grove accessories are her shoes. She said, “I like to switch things up between booties, fringe boots, wedges, and sandals.” Ingle is looking forward to rocking more boho styles this football season. Next up on her list to try? A jumpsuit.
