Terry Warren, owner of Rebel Rags, will be signing his new children’s book this weekend.

Terry F. Warren, owner of Rebel Rags, along with Kathryn Hood, has written a children’s story, The Adventures of Foxy Reb: The Beginning, about a fox born in the Grove, who competes to be the Ole Miss mascot. When the bear won, Foxy began his journey to Rebel Rags to become the store’s mascot.

Warren and his wife Cindy opened Rebel Rags in the fall of 2005 and in 2010 decided to put a face on the Rebel Rags brand. As a result, the concept of Foxy Reb was born. Warren always knew that he wanted to write a book, but he never dreamed that it would be a children’s book.

“This is a great story for everyone – young and old,” Warren said. “This is not just a children’s book,it really is a story.”

The story features 48 pages of full color illustrations and is licensed by Ole Miss. Warren and co-author Kathryn Hood will be signing The Adventures of Foxy Reb:The Beginning at Rebel Rags from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, and 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The Adventures of Foxy Reb: The Beginning retails for $29, and you can buy a plush Foxy Reb, which normally retails for $18, for $10 on the day of the signing.

Foxy Reb has been the mascot of Rebel Rags for seven years, and you can find Foxy Reb on weekends at the store. When trying to decide what kind of mascot he wanted for the store, Warren said he thought of Foxy because when he was a young man, they called pretty ladies “foxy, or said that she was a fox”, therefore Foxy Reb was born.

Warren teamed up with author Kathryn Hood, and illustrator Ariane Trammell to make his dream a reality. Hood is a licensed professional counselor and child psychotherapist who specializes in play therapy. Hood has written several other children’s books, and The Adventures of Foxy Reb is her third about Ole Miss.

Trammell has illustrated 18 books for local authors, and wrote her own, Where the Grass is Always Greener, which was released in February of 2014. Trammell continues to illustrate and design books for other authors. The Adventures of Foxy Reb is her twenty-first project.

“The first person to buy the book was from Berkley, California and that shows you that Rebel fans are all over the world,” Warren said.

Warren plans to have more books coming out in the future.

The Adventures of Foxy Reb: The Beginning is available for purchase in store or online here.
