It’s That Time of the Year as Water Valley’s Bozarts Gallery Unveils its Eight Annual ‘Holiday Miniatures Show’

Bozarts Gallery’s Eight Annual Holiday Miniature Show will open this season on Saturday, December 5 from 6 through 9 p.m.

During the season, Bozarts will stray away from its usual hours of operation and extend them to Monday through Friday from noon until 5 p.m. with Saturday showings taking place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This schedule will carry on through Tuesday, December 22.

As always, the festive opening reception on December 5 is a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.

This year’s show will feature a vast diversity of arts including painting, pottery, glass arts, jewelry, photography, fabric and silk screen art, wood and metal work, print making and other artistic expressions.

Bozarts’ yearly title for these shows is aptly named “Miniatures Show” due to the fact that all work on display is created on a small scale.

Miniature art is actually a very popular art genre.

The Florida Miniatures Society offers this definition for the genre: “Often extremely detailed work, exquisite in color with a strength of composition which can more than compete with larger paintings. A compositional guide requires a gentle, no more than one-sixteenth scale of the actual subject.”

Though small in size and often exquisitely delicate, the work on display at Bozarts Gallery represents a more generous interpretation of the moniker “miniature.”

This year’s show will feature work by Bozarts Alliance artists Cindy Aune, Andi Bedsworth, Ed Croom, Pati D’Amico, Mari Foster, Hanne Gaycken, Katrina Geenen, Nicole Gladden, Tommy Goodman, Thomas Grosskopf, Benny Melton, Carol Smith, Caren Vitell and William Warren.

Along with the above members of the Bozart’s alliance, guest artists will include Rebecca McGavock, Claire Whitehurst, Mike Prater, Jack Gurner, Elsie Booker and Adrienne Brown-David.

And, if that weren’t enough, Bozarts will also offer unique jewelry by Beth Long, hand-crafted wood work by Jeff Long and unique gift cards by Katrina Geenen and Bedsworth.

Combined, all of these artists offer pieces that are fresh and original.

According to Bozart’s Gallery, “This show is a perfect entryway into owning and collecting original art for every budget. One of the greatest benefits of owning original art is that it gives people a feeling of happiness in finding and displaying a unique work in their homes. Small art also makes great gifts for those on your gift-giving list who seem to have everything.”
