Foster Music and Arts to Feature First Show on Water Valley’s Main Street
First came Fiddler’s Loft, an acoustic showcase in the loft of a barn at Fiddlin’ Rooster Farms. Then came Loft on Main, a concert series in the beautiful space above the B.T.C. Grocery.
Now, the same people who brought you those fabulous shows featuring musician such as Jon Dee Graham, Julie Lee, Kenny Brown, Petunia, The International Songwriters Collective, Rod Picott and a host of others, have found a new home at Foster Music and Arts located on Main Street in Water Valley.
The new organization, Foster Music and Arts, whose goal is to cultivate live music in Water Valley – primarily through revitalizing a 250-seat auditorium formerly housing the Ole School Theater located on the south side of town in the Melonvine Marketplace – will regularly present both national and regional music acts for all to enjoy.
On Saturday, March 26, at 7 p.m., doors to the new/old music venue will open with an intimate acoustic show featuring veteran New England singer-songwriter Cormac McCarthy.
Jeff McLaughlin of the Boston Globe calls Cormac McCarthy “A distinctive songwriter with a warm, powerful, inherently melodic baritone, a fine guitarist and a devastating wit… enormous writing gifts, capable of putting chills into your spine or a silly grin on your face.”This is a chance to get up close and personal with one of Maine’s true local treasures; a literate and engaging songwriter, accomplished guitarist and veteran performer who delivers songs about real people and the universal themes that bind us.
There will be an admission of $12 at the door to support the artist. Contact us by email or phone for reservations and directions or just show up. For the Cormac McCarthy show call 662-473-9910 or email fostermusicarts@hughes.net.
Foster Music and Arts is located at 817 South Main Street, Water Valley, Mississippi, inside the Melonvine marketplace (the former location of the Other Other Place building supply store).
These shows are made possible by the generous support of The Caryl Company and the Melonvine Marketplace.
