Understandably, art is taking front and center stage tomorrow (Wednesday April 13) as students in third through sixth grades showcase their art skills at a reception at the Allen Samuels Showroom at 5:30 p.m.
The reception – which is being finalized today – proudly displays hundreds of local students’ artwork featuring their personal interpretation of the Double Decker Arts Festival presented by Caterpillar – awarding cash and other valuable prizes to the winners in each grade level.
Sharon Vitter, wife to Ole Miss Chancellor Jeffrey S. Vitter, will be presenting the awards to the children at the reception and a silent auction is planned for the students’ artwork with proceeds benefitting the Kiwanis Club of Oxford.
The Kiwanis club’s mission is “changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time.” For more information about the Kiwanis Double Decker Art Contest, contact Jim Stephens, president of the Kiwanis club, at 662-801-3056 or jstephens@olemiss.edu.
Check out the short video (top) highlighting event coordinator, Rosie Vassallo, and Chick-fil-A marketing director Morgan Fyfe work tirelessly as they mount all of our little artists’ artwork to the showroom wall at the Allen Samuels Showroom.
The gallery below will give you a great idea of what to expect at the showroom reception tomorrow evening at 5:30. The public is invited to attend the free event.
The Allen Samuels Showroom is located at 2201 East University Avenue immediately past Kroger on the left.
