Ole Miss’ 2018 recruiting class got a lot lighter over the weekend. On Saturday, OL Blaine Scott tweeted his de-commitment from Ole Miss. Less than an hour later The Oklahoman’s Scott Wright tweeted that DT Israel Antwine had de-committed from the Rebels.

Scott is listed at 6’4, 310 pounds as a three-star guard from Portsmouth, Ohio. While he mentioned that Ole Miss will remain in consideration, Scott holds offers from Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, and many others. Scott’s profile lists Matt Luke as the one who recruited him. Luke has since taken over the head coaching duties on an interim basis after Hugh Freeze’s resignation.
Antwine is a 6’3 286-pound three-star defensive tackle from Oklahoma City. Most of Scott’s offers come from closer to home with the likes of Texas, Oklahoma State, TCU, SMU and several others. Antwine’s only other SEC offer comes from Arkansas.
Scott and Antwine’s de-commitments leave the Rebels with just seven commits and the 80th ranked class in the country for 2018, according to 247sports.com. While there may be a long way to go before National Signing Day in February 2018, the Rebels may be facing an uphill battle appealing to recruits with the current state of the program.
