Ole Miss basketball is getting in early with one of the biggest names in the 2028 class.
Bamba Touray is the No. 2 overall prospect in the Rivals150, a 7‑footer with guard skills and a national profile. He announced this summer he will play his junior season at Prolific Prep after averaging 10.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks on Puma’s Pro16 16U Circuit.
Players ranked this high usually spend their early recruitment hearing from the biggest brands in college basketball. Ole Miss being mentioned this early is notable.
Touray’s game explains why he is already a national priority.
“I can kind of do a little bit of everything,” Touray told Rivals’ Jamie Shaw. “I run the floor hard, shoot the ball, and I am able to put the ball on the floor. I’ve worked a lot on my handle, so I can be able to rebound and then go and make a play and score. I’ve been watching a lot of Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis. I like Davis because he dominated on both sides of the ball; he plays good defense and offense, too.”
That versatility is exactly what modern staffs look for in a long‑term frontcourt piece. And Ole Miss is already one of the programs involved.
“I have offers from Georgia, Florida State, Ole Miss, Marquette, and some others,” Touray said.
When asked who has been most active, he pointed directly to the Rebels.
“Ole Miss is showing me a lot of love,” Touray said. “They are checking in on me and texting me. And every time I play, they are giving me some advice. They say that they like the way I move for a player as big as I am. And they like that I can do a little bit of everything. They think I can be a really, really good player if I keep working.”
For a 2028 recruit, that is meaningful feedback. It also comes with the reminder that this process is still in its early stages.
“I don’t have any visits set yet,” Touray said. “But I think I am going to set some up soon.”
He also laid out what will matter most when the time comes.
“I am going to be looking for the best fit. The best relationship, the best development, how they play, all of that. The team that is going to help me get better and play my game. And then, I want to win a championship.”
Ole Miss has time to build that case. Being in the conversation this early is the first step, and for a player of Touray’s caliber, it is a good one.
