Most of the 2027 class is close to wrapped up across college football, which means the spotlight is shifting fast toward the recruiting class.
June 15 opened the door for 2028 prospects to talk with coaches, and programs wasted no time diving in.
Two names already pulling steady attention are Georgia offensive tackle Malakhi Dudley and Florida athlete Zion Green, each navigating busy recruitments with fall visits on deck.
Malakhi Dudley
Dudley is one of those prospects who doesn’t need a formal top schools list for people to know who’s in the mix. The Heritage (Ga.) offensive tackle plans to put out a top seven early in the season, but he already knows which programs have done the best job since June 15.
Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Ole Miss and Tennessee have separated themselves so far.
He hasn’t locked in any game day visits yet, but it’s hard to imagine he won’t be at both Georgia and Georgia Tech early in the fall. Ole Miss is also firmly in the picture. Dudley visited Oxford in the spring and made it clear he wants to get back.
“I had a visit up there during the spring, and they most definitely wanted me back. I’m going to definitely try to get up there this fall again. I like all the linemen they brought in this year too, and I like the team they have,” he told 247Sports’ Benjamin Wolk.
With his size, athleticism and the way his recruitment is trending, Dudley is shaping up to be one of the more important linemen in the Southeast for the 2028 cycle.
Zion Green
If Dudley’s recruitment is about identifying the early contenders, Green’s fall is about seeing as many of them as possible. The Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines four‑star athlete has a long list of options, and he’s using the 2026 season to trim it down.
His visit schedule, per 247Sports’ Zach Blostein, is loaded with marquee matchups:
- Texas vs Ohio State
- Florida vs Ole Miss
- Nebraska vs Maryland
- Tennessee vs Alabama
- Florida State vs Clemson
- Ohio State vs Oregon
- Florida State vs Florida
Green checks in at 6‑foot‑3 and 166 pounds and ranks as the No. 14 athlete and No. 32 player in Florida for 2028. With that kind of schedule and that kind of talent, he’s going to be one of the more visible prospects this fall.
