Ole Miss continues to prepare for the upcoming season which will feature plenty of gamedays that’ll be about more than just what’s happening on the field.
The Rebels are scheduling several gameday visits with recruits in the 2028 signing class, including multiple who will be in Oxford for LSU coach Lane Kiffin’s return.
From a fast‑rising edge rusher to a committed cornerback to a massive interior lineman, here’s a look at where things stand heading into the season.
Jeremiah Figaro’s fall tour is set
Jeremiah Figaro is about to live the life of a frequent flyer.
The Top247 edge rusher has a busy fall schedule that looks more like a travel itinerary than a high school calendar, thanks in part to New England’s late start and a few Friday games sprinkled in. The 6 foot 4, 205 pound Dexter Southfield standout has lined up visits to Florida State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and UCLA.
And it’s not random. Figaro said the schedule works with his season, but he also wants to see what these programs look like on game day. He’s paying attention to defensive line rotations, environments and how each staff handles its front seven.
His visits start Aug. 29 at Florida State for the opener against New Mexico State. Tennessee follows the next weekend for its opener against Furman. Then comes a four‑week stretch on the road, beginning with a return trip to Notre Dame on Sept. 12 after camping there in June and earning an offer.
Ole Miss is up next on Sept. 19 for LSU coach Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford, which should make for one of the wildest atmospheres of the season. The Rebels offered Figaro the day after Notre Dame did, and now they get him on campus during one of the biggest home games of the year.
Deonte Flemings Jr. lining up a busy visit slate
One of the earliest commits in the 2028 class is also one of the busiest.
Top247 cornerback Deonte Flemings Jr., a Penn State commit, has locked in six game visits for the fall. Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M will all host him, and he’ll be back at Penn State for a marquee matchup as well.
None of this is surprising. Flemings said back in January that he planned to take other visits, and every program on his list has already offered the 6 foot 3, 190 pound Erie (Pa.) McDowell standout. He’s the No. 17 cornerback in the class and one of the more physically gifted defensive backs in the cycle.
His first stop is Ole Miss on Sept. 19, the same LSU‑Ole Miss game Figaro will attend. The Rebels offered Flemings in mid April, and getting him on campus for a high‑profile SEC matchup fits the pattern of how they’ve recruited nationally at defensive back.
TJ Brandon preparing for his season and a key visit
Douglas County (Ga.) interior offensive lineman TJ Brandon opens his junior season on Aug. 21 at Newton County. The three star prospect is 6 foot 4, 330 pounds and already hearing from a long list of Power Four programs, including Ole Miss.
And he’s already circled one game on his calendar.
Brandon told OMSpirit that he’s locked in the LSU versus Ole Miss matchup for a visit. He’s been in steady contact with Terrence Metcalf, Chris James and Kelvin Bolden, and he said he can’t wait to see that game in person.
The Ole Miss staff’s all‑hands‑on‑deck approach has defined the 2027 class, and it’s now bleeding into 2028. Position coaches aren’t just recruiting their rooms anymore. Territories are back, relationships are built across the staff, and prospects like Brandon are seeing that consistency through visits, Zoom calls and regular communication.
