Tammy Wynette was born and raised in Itawamba County, near Tremont. Her real name was Virginia Wynette Pugh. She was married to five different men (George Jones) being the only entertainer among them). Ironically, two of her biggest hits were “D-I-V-O-R-C-E” and “Stand by Your Man.”
