In 1949, Oxford was abuzz as the cast and crew for the filming of Intruder in the Dust came to town.

Veteran character actor Porter Hall and the young lead actor, Claude Jarman, spent time in Cofield’s Studio. Porter Hall was really interested in knowing Oxford and Faulkner history, and he and Granddaddy became friends.

His photo, signed to The ‘Colonel’, hangs in my brother Glenn’s home today. Photos by J.R. Cofield – (c) The Cofield Collection
