Tourism Manager Mary Allyn Hedges said the Oxford Convention & Visitors Bureau has received many questions regarding the weather forecast for the weekend and whether the Double Decker Arts Festival Presented by C Spire Wireless will alter its schedule. Thursday morning, Hedges said, Oxford CVB staff, Chamber of Commerce staff, the Oxford Police Department, and Jimmy Allgood, the city’s emergency management director, met to look at the most up-to-date weather information that Allgood had received. After evaluating the information, all involved made the decision to proceed with the festival as planned. The following is a statement put out by the CVB and Chamber about their events:
“After meeting this morning with Oxford’s Emergency Management Director Jimmy Allgood, The Oxford CVB and Chamber have made the decision to proceed with plans for the weekend. It is evident to us that although there is a chance of scattered rain in the forecast, we will not be under a severe weather warning on Saturday. Therefore, at this time the decision has been made to proceed with plans for the Double Decker Arts Festival Presented by C Spire Wireless and Spring Run as scheduled. We will continue to monitor the weather. Updates or changes to the schedules will be posted on social media and our websites www.doubledeckerfestival.com and www.doubledeckerspringrun.com. AM 1630 will also be updated with weather and change of schedule information throughout the next couple of days. We look forward to everyone coming out to our events throughout the weekend- rain or shine! Questions regarding weather can be directed to Oxford Emergency Management Director Jimmy Allgood at 662.816.7469.”
