Will Be Inducted As a Coach in June 2014

Former Lady Rebel women’s basketball coach, Lin Dunn will become Ole Miss’ fourth inductee into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (WBHOF) as she is one of six members of the Class of 2014.

Dunn, the current head coach of the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, will join Van Chancellor (2001), Jennifer Gillom (2009) and Peggie Gillom-Granderson (2013) as Lady Rebels who have been inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Dunn’s induction marks the second consecutive Hall of Fame class that includes a Lady Rebel. Former Ole Miss player, Peggie Gillom-Granderson, was inducted in the Class of 2013.

Dunn led the Rebels to a 25-15 mark in 1977-78 while being named the Mississippi Coach of the Year. Dunn, who also served as head coach at Austin Peay, Miami and Purdue, was a two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year, and boasts a .645 winning percentage and holds over 400 career wins at the collegiate level.

In addition to Dunn, the other inductees include: Michelle Edwards (player), Mimi Griffin (contributor), Yolanda Griffith (player), Jasmina Perazic (player), and Charlotte West (contributor). The Class was announced at halftime of the WNBA All-Star game in July. The Class of 2014 will be formally inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on June 14, 2014 in Knoxville, Tenn.

With the addition of the Class of 2014, the WBHOF will recognize the 1976 USA Olympic Team for their contributions to the game in a display at the Hall entitled “Trailblazers of the Game”. The 1976 team will join the All American Red Heads, Edmonton Grads, the Former Helms/Citizens Savings/Founders Bank, and the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens as the only five groups recognized as “Trailblazers of the Game”.

In order to be considered for selection for induction into the WBHOF, an individual must meet the following prerequisites:

Coach: Must have coached the women’s game at least 20 years
Referee: Must have officiated the women’s game at least 10 years
