Top 5 Unforgettable Marshall Henderson Moments

Published

on

It’s almost winter, and that means football season is fading away while basketball season blasts off. In honor of Marshall Henderson returning from his three-game suspension at the start of the season, we bring you the five most unforgettable Marshall Henderson moments.

1. Henderson and Auburn fans (January 26, 2013)

What started as an off night for Henderson being held to a mere 15 points, quickly changed into Henderson’s most memorable night. Henderson led the Rebels to a late 63-61 victory over the Tigers, and what happened after the victory has been enshrined in .GIF history.

2. Henderson does the Florida Gator chop (March 17, 2013)

Last year the Rebels’ basketball team shocked the conference and won the SEC tournament at the end of the season, crowning them the SEC champs. In the title game against the Gators, Henderson accumulated 21 points, three steals and four rebounds. Yet, it wasn’t his performance that enraged Gator fans. With seven minutes left in the game Henderson ran along the Florida student section mocking the Gator chop.

3. Henderson’s Buzzer Beater against Vanderbilt (January 15, 2013)

Coming off a huge win against #10 ranked Missouri, the Rebels faced a tough Vanderbilt team at home. It seemed as though the Rebels were about to lose the momentum they had gained from the start of the season with a loss to Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt guard Kevin Bright drained a three, placing the Commodores three points ahead with 3.2 seconds left. Ole Miss inbounded the ball and placed the ball in Henderson’s hands. Standing between the three-point line and half court, Henderson heaved up a three and tied the game at 78-78, forcing it to overtime. Henderson proceeded with his signature tongue out and Landshark gestures after sinking the three and carried the momentum into OT, giving the Rebs an 89-79 road victory.

4. Henderson sets SEC Record (March 24, 2013)

The Rebels final game last year was against La Salle in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately, the Rebels were knocked out of the tournament by the Explorers with a 76-74 loss. Some good did come during the loss though, during the game Marshall Henderson set the SEC record with his 138th made 3-pointer and broke the NCAA record with his 394th attempt.

1. Henderson responds to sports reporter Erin Andrews (July 10, 2013)

hendersonThe off-season was difficult for Henderson. In early July, sports publications began announcing that Ole Miss had suspended Henderson for failed drug tests and said he would miss the start of the season. In response, sports reporter Erin Andrews took to Twitter to take a shot at Henderson. Tweeting “He mocking anyone now?” — Andrews referred to our number two moment on the list. Henderson responded with “Ima save that and you will be the first person ill mock.”

Enjoy these moments and be on the lookout for Henderson when Ole Miss plays the Mississippi Valley State Devils in the Tad Pad Friday at 7:30 p.m. — Henderson’s second game of the season this year.
