New Hotels Cropping Up in Oxford

Published

on

Forbes magazine recently named Oxford as one of the Fastest Growing Small Towns in America. Nothing illustrates that better than three new hotels being built around town.

1. The Chancellor’s House

The Chancellor’s House, a boutique hotel, received it’s COA from the City of Oxford on Dec. 3. It will take about 13 months to construct the building located at 400 South Lamar Blvd or better known as the Four Corners intersection (at University Avenue and South Lamar). The hotel will accommodate 32 beds, underground parking and plenty of event space just three blocks south of the Square.

2. Downtown Inn

This new design proposal of the Downtown Inn was denied a COA from the City of Oxford on Dec. 3. Another rendering and design concept (below) was previously approved.

While original plans were to develop a Hotel Indigo in this location, plans have since changed now Chamblee Hospitality Group is working to develop its own Graduate Hotel Group. The new hotel is scheduled for completion in Fall 2014.

3. Courtyard by Marriott

Located on Jackson Avenue just before the old railroad bridge, a 121-room Courtyard by Marriott, featuring eight, two story loft suites and an indoor pool, is under construction. The new Marriott is scheduled to open August 2014, in time for football season.

As the rumor mill churns, HottyToddy.com has caught wind of several other future hotel properties in Oxford, including a Marriott Towneplace Suites near the Oxford Conference Center and a potential reincarnation of the The Gin off the Square. As new information becomes available, HottyToddy.com will update accordingly.
