VIDEO>>Meet All-American Sam Kendricks Up Close and Personal

Sam Kendricks is an Ole Miss record holder.

Sam Kendricks has earned All-American honors as an Ole Miss pole vaulter but the sophomore told that he is looking forward to achieving even more in the future.
In this wide-ranging video series you’ll meet the Oxford native and Oxford High School graduate who never wavered on his commitment to attend Ole Miss. An Army ROTC member, Kendricks talks about his close relationship with his track coach dad, his training regimen and his development from a non-athletic awkward youngster to one of the world’s premier track athletes.
Quick Sam Kendricks Facts:
• He captured a gold medal in the men’s pole vault this month at the 27th World University Games, capping off his incredible sophomore season in a big way.
• Kendricks adds the title of World University champion to his name just over a month after he was crowned NCAA champion in Eugene, Ore.
• It was the eighth time in 11 outdoor meets this year that Kendricks has cleared at least 18 feet, while it marked his seventh outright victory
• He was invited to join Team USA at the World University Games after narrowly missing a spot on the American team for the World Championships.
• Kendricks still ranks ninth in the world this year with a school-record mark of 19-0.75 that he set at the Texas Relays on March 29. It was the best vault in the NCAA since 1998 and placed Kendrick’s fifth-best in collegiate history.
• Kendricks and his Ole Miss junior Sam Kendricks and freshman Jalen Miller were named first team All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this month.
The Rebels will now turn their attention to the outdoor season, which begins at home Saturday with the Ole Miss Open. Admission is free.
