Rebel Baseball Takes on Alabama in Weekend Series

This weekend, Ole Miss baseball returns to conference action in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
No. 9 Ole Miss (21-5, 4-2 SEC) was handed their fifth loss of the season by Southern Miss 5-3 on Tuesday. Junior Sikes Orvis is second in the SEC with six home runs and nine of his 14 RBIs came from the long ball.
Will Allen is now tied for the lead with 33 RBI and tied for fifth in the conference with four home runs this season.
Alabama (16-8, 3-3 SEC) defeated Troy in a midweek game. Last weekend, the Tide dropped a series to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Austen Smith leads the Tide at the plate with a .377 average, three home runs, and 21 RBI.
As a club, Alabama comes in hitting .273 with 16 home runs and 124 RBI so far this season.
Coach Mike Bianco will be sending the normal weekend rotation of Chris Ellis on Friday, Christen Trent on Saturday, and Sam Smith on Sunday. Alabama will match arms with: right-handed pitcher Spencer Turnbull on Friday, left-handed pitcher Justin Kamplain on Saturday, and left-handed pitcher Jon Keller on Sunday.
Coming into this weekend, the Rebels and the Crimson Tide have met on the diamond 338 times. Alabama leads the  series 191-145-2, but last season Ole Miss swept the Tide in Oxford.
Fans that are not making the trip to T-town this weekend can listen to all the action of every game on the Ole Miss Baseball Network. Or watch Saturday nights game on CSS. Game times are set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
