There is no place like home, and the Ole Miss Volleyball team is undefeated in the Gillom Sports Center this year. The Rebels are hoping to continue that streak when they host Missouri in a televised contest Wednesday in their SEC home opener at 6 p.m.
The match will mark the Rebels’ second one on the SEC Network, which also broadcasted their match at South Carolina last Friday.
The Rebels come into the Missouri match at 14-2 overall and 0-2 in the SEC after dropping a tight 3-2 match at South Carolina last Friday and then falling to No. 10 Florida 3-0 on Sunday.
• The Rebels rank third in the SEC in hitting percentage (.273), third in opponent hitting percentage (.168), second in assists (12.62 a/s) and fourth in kills (14.52 k/s).
• Junior Nakeyta Clair currently ranks third in the SEC in hitting percentage at .420 and seventh in kills per game at 3.29. Sophomore Aubrey Edie ranks third in assists per game at 11.02.
• Ole Miss and Mizzou’s series dates back to 1980 and the Tigers hold a 7-4 lead in the all-time series. However, the Tigers have never won in Oxford with Ole Miss winning in 2007 and 2012. The Tigers won the most recent meeting, a 3-0 sweep at the Hearnes Center last season.
“In the SEC, you have to have a short memory. Missouri is coming in 2-0 in the conference, so it’s going to be a tough match. Hopefully we learned a lot from this past weekend. We’re going to challenge our team to come out and use the frustration from this past weekend to have a good week of practice.”
Fans who come to the match on Wednesday will receive 20 Rebel Rewards points.
