New-Orleans-Bowl-Field-Web
This weekend opens the jam-packed start of the the holiday bowl season leading us to the new College Football Playoffs on New Year’s Day.
The year, the lineup is a little different from the past as college football has adopted the playoff system, placing the top four teams in playoff games before the winners meet in the national championship in Texas.
On Saturday, fans can start the bowl experience as five bowl games will take place, with the New Orleans Bowl kicking the bowl season off as Nevada takes on UL-Lafayette, then the New Mexico Bowl will match up Utah State against UTEP. The Las Vegas Bowl pits Utah versus Colorado State and will kick off during the New Mexico Bowl. The last two games on deck for Saturday are the Idaho Potato Bowl with Western Michigan and Air Force and the Camellia Bowl with South Alabama taking on Bowling Green to close out the night.
On Monday afternoon, BYU takes on Memphis in the Miami Beach Bowl.
Though the SEC does not start their bowls until Dec. 27, the college football bowl and playoff docket has anything a sports fan could want to watch over the holidays.
