Marquis Haynes Tabbed Freshman All-American

Ole Miss’ Marquis Haynes has been named a Freshman All-American by several outlets after a superb first year in the Red and Blue.
A 6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive end from Jacksonville, Florida, Haynes has been named to Freshman All-America teams by Sporting News, ESPN.com, Scout.com, Phil Steele, 247Sports and Sports on Earth.
Haynes set an Ole Miss freshman record for sacks with a team-leading 7.5 this season. That ranks tied for eighth among SEC players and tied for fourth among the nation’s freshmen. He leads Ole Miss with three forced fumbles (tied for second-most in the SEC) and eight quarterback hurries, while ranking second on the team with 8.5 tackles for loss.
Also a member of the SEC All-Freshman team, Haynes was tabbed SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week after a two-sack performance at Texas A&M. The very next week, he was named SEC Freshman of the Week after posting 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery against Tennessee.
Haynes is now one of eight current Rebels who have received Freshman All-America status in their careers. The others are Tony Conner (2013), Robert Nkemdiche (2013), Laquon Treadwell (2013), Laremy Tunsil (2013), Denzel Nkemdiche (2012), Issac Gross (2012) and Serderius Bryant (2011).
