The 64th annual Ole Miss Parade of Beauties should pack the house at the Gertrude Ford Center this Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. The pageant will have 96 University of Mississippi students competing for the Most Beautiful title.
The count of beauties went up from 76 last year. Whoever wins the Most Beautiful title will compete for Miss University pageant later this spring semester. These two pageants are sponsored by the Student Activities Association (SAA).
This year the pageant is an university-wide showcase. The SAA is hosting the Parade of Beauties with the Ole Miss Student Union. Mr. Ole Miss Rob Barber and Miss Ole Miss Emily Wikle will be the emcees for the event with appearances by Miss University France Beard and Miss Mississippi USA Courtney Byrd. Chris Coffin will be entertaining that night. The Ole Miss Army ROTC will provide escorts to seating.
All contestants will participate in a private interview with a panel of four judges the day of the pageant which counts for 10 percent of the total score. Later that evening each contestant will don their prettiest gowns for the evening gown competition which counts for 90 percent of the final score. They will be scored on their stage presence, poise and physical fitness and personality and overall beauty of face and figure.
