The Ole Miss Rebel baseball team returns to Swayze Field on Saturday as they host the Stetson Hatters for a three-game series.
Ole Miss comes into the series with a 6-5 overall record after a 5-1 loss to Southern Mississippi on Wednesday night. Holt Predzock drove in the lone Rebel run with an RBI single. He is hitting at a .333 clip on the year with five total hits, two runs and a pair of RBI.
The 3-4-5 hitters, J.B. Woodman, Sikes Orvis and Colby Bortles, found holes in the Southern Miss. defense, notching a hit each.
Stetson comes into Oxford with a record of 7-6 after dropping a midweek decision to Michigan earlier in the week.
Leading Stetson at the plate is senior Garrett Russini. Named Second Team All-Atlantic Sun last year, Russini is back for his final season and is hitting a team-best .383. Fellow Hatter Josh Powers has bounced back from injuries to boast a team-high 12 RBI, while University of Tennessee transfer Vance Vizcaino is batting .373 with 11 RBI and nine runs. The Hatters are going to give the the ball to southpaw Adam Schaly, right-hander Brooks Wilson and lefty Ben Onyshko. While coach Mike Bianco will send to the mound Christian Trent, Brady Bramlett and Sam Smith to dual against the Hatters lineup. Wilson, the Hatters’ ace, has made seven appearances, going 4-0 with a team-low 2.76 ERA this far on the season.
Ole Miss leads the all-time series, 4-0, including a three-game sweep over the Hatters to kick off the 2014 season.
The series will take place on Saturday and Sunday with a twin bill on Saturday starting at noon. The second game will follow thirty-minutes later.
