Diamond Rebs Host Central Arkansas to Begin Five-Game Homestand

The Ole Miss Rebel baseball team hosts Central Arkansas this evening on the diamond at Swayze Field to open a five-game homestand for the red and blue.

Ole Miss comes into the game with a 20-20 overall record after dropping an SEC series to Auburn on the road. Senior Austin Knight lifted the Rebels to a 7-2 victory over the Tigers in game one of the double dip by driving in a career-high four runs in the game.

Central Arkansas rolls into Oxford with a 19-14 record, over the weekend the Bears dropped a conference road series to Northwestern State. Juniors Matt Anderson and Tyler Langley lead the Bears with batting averages of .327 and .325, respectively.

UCA also gets a lot of pop in there lineup off of the bat of Logan Preston who has six-home runs on the year and 20 RBI.

This evening the Rebels, will give the ball to junior southpaw Mitchell Babb with a 1-0 record and a 4.40 ERA. This will be Babb’s second start of the season as his first start came against Southern Mississippi. Central Arkansas has not released who they will be sending to the hill.

When the Rebels and the Bears meet on the diamond tonight it will only be the sixth time in history, and Ole Miss holds a 4-1 advantage in the series. In 2012, Ole Miss defeated the Bears 4-0, 2-1 in a double header.

First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m., with all the action being heard on the Ole Miss Radio Network and seen on SECNetwork+. From here, the Rebels host Memphis on Wednesday against the Alabama Crimson Tide during Double Decker weekend.
