Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina in the Highland Square shopping center on Jackson Avenue is now open for business. The restaurant began serving customers this week with an official opening date last on Monday, July 6.
Specializing in homemade Mexican cuisine, the restaurant prides itself on quick service, quality ingredients and a casual, comfortable atmosphere. “One of my favorite things is our quesarito, which is a basically a burrito topped with queso cheese and sour cream,” said General Manager Ken Jeffcoat. “It’s really good.”
Jeffcoat also recommends the nachos and quesadillas.
Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina is in Oxford thanks to Mississippi enthusiasts Barry Cannada, J.C. Clark and Phil Freidman. Cannada and Freidman, who are Ole Miss alumni, acquired Salsaritas in 2011 after it had become established out of Charlotte, North Carolina.
The franchise how has three Mississippi locations, including one in Starkville and another in Southaven.
