Passion for Politics: The Yellowbrick Road Unfortunately Leads to the White House
The polls following the horrific Friday the 13th evening in Paris are indicating that the American people have lost confidence in our leadership to defeat ISIS and terrorism in general.
The outreach of this is now impacting Hillary politically as for the first time in the campaign, every major GOP candidate defeats her and several soundly!
Speaking of the GOP, remember back around Labor Day when almost every pundit was predicting the Trump appeal would disappear by Halloween? Not so amigos. Trump is now stronger than ever. The Republican field is now down to four possibilities (realistically speaking) with even one of those in decline.
Dr. Ben Carson has been weakened considerably by his perceived shortcomings in the area of foreign policy where The Donald excels. Senators Cruz and Rubio are still in the hunt, but it stops with these two.
What’s next for Jeb? The smart play would be to withdraw now while he’s still holding five percent of the Republican electorate before it goes to zero. What the media is deliberately overlooking is the fact the former Florida governor has about as much charisma as George Will. Jeb could then navigate behind the scenes wishing and hoping for a brokered convention where he could throw his anemic support to Romney. I still believe this is a card that will be played prior to a Trump coronation.
With the Iowa caucuses only 69 days away, it’s getting close to show and tell time. Should Trump prevail in the Hawkeye state followed by New Hampshire, the party is over. The most recent polls in the two states are showing Trump with leads of eight to ten percent depending upon which poll you are reviewing.
And with the top three topics on the voters’ minds now focusing on terrorism, immigration and the economy, The Donald trumps every competitor including Hillary. Oz may be found in Trump Tower with a wizard unlike anything we’ve ever seen previously on the American landscape.
