21. HottyToddy’s Top Headlines: MS Governor Phil Bryant Calls Out UM on 16 WAPT News

flag of mississippi

Monday, the University of Mississippi took down the flag early morning and sent it to the Archives at the J.D. Williams Library. Since then, Mississippi governor Phil Bryant has voiced his opinion to Scott Simmons at 16 WAPT News.

As quoted in the WAPT’s video transcript, Gov. Bryant said, “I think if you have a publicly funded institution like that, they should be respectful of the people of the state. It’s the people they need to respect, not the governor but the majority of the people who voted for that to be the state flag and now we have institutions that say we ignore the will of the people and I am very peculiar. I think the people are sovereigns of this state. They should be respected and their decisions should be respected.”
