Beautiful Tribute Video to Robert Khayat: The Moss Point Kid
Editor’s Note: I have known Robert Khayat since I was old enough to say his name. I would see him from time to time — a kindred Coast native from neighboring Moss Point — either “down there” on the Coast or “up here” at Ole Miss. Early last year as I contemplated making the move from Coast to Oxford to take this position as CEO at New Media Lab/HottyToddy.com, many thoughts were running through my mind..
One weekend when visiting Oxford, we ran into none other than “the Moss Point kid” Robert Khayat shopping for groceries, pushing his cart in Kroger. We hugged and caught up.Then I told him I was considering the move to Oxford. He was so excited and encouraged me without hesitation.
“You will never regret it. There is so much energy and excitement here, so much for y’all to do. When the students go home for breaks, it slows down, but when they return there’s so much energy and excitement. They keep you young!” he said.
Now here I am, in Oxford, in a position to attend events like the beautiful Legacy Award dinner in his honor Saturday night with 800 people in attendance, and to share this wonderful tribute video with our readers. It was produced by Tim Weeks for the Ole Miss Women’s Council for the Legacy Award Presentation. We thought it was too good to only be shown at that event. We asked Tim, and he graciously supplied it for us to share with you. Thank you,Tim and the Women’s Council.
And Thank You, Robert Khayat, the Moss Point Kid and the 15th Chancellor of the University of Mississippi for all that you have done for our University.

Mr. Khayat
I always thought he was a great gentleman and a terrific chancellor.
Given the losers that have followed him, he just looks better and better.

Having been the maid of honor at your wedding to Margaret gave me the opportunity to get to know you over the years in all sorts of situations! Getting to be your friend is the best part of that! You are what ” the OleMiss Man ” should be! You are the best thing to ever happen to that school! I am glad you have been in my life by chosing my “bes’friend” for your wife!As your father would have said,” you are the” dianthesis” of my life”!
