Thieves Steal Carpenter’s Tools, Citizens Launch GoFundMe Campaign

Concerned citizens have launched a GoFundMe page for an area construction worker in desperate need.

This past Saturday the trailer belonging to Rob W. Watts was stolen from a construction site located at County Road 380 between Oxford and the Paris community in Lafayette County. Sitting there for roughly three weeks, thieves not only stole the 10-foot box trailer housing nearly every tool he owned but stripped the 52-year-old worker of his ability to make a living.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department says it is investigating the theft, and no arrests have been made.

It’s been a rough month for Watts. If his stolen trailer wasn’t enough, in August the carpenter’s thumb was cut off when his saw kicked back.

Watts has operated Team Watts Construction for 30-years.

The GoFundMe campaign seeks to raise $5,000 to replace Watt’s trailer and tools.
