JJ’s Wood Shed, Allen Jones, Oxford, MS
Allen Jones, affectionately known as JJ, is a native of Oxford. A two-sport athlete at Oxford High School, JJ was granted a scholarship to play baseball and football at Northwest Community College. He then continued his athletic pursuits at Kentucky State. After suffering a shoulder injury and having to end his athletic career, JJ received his degree with a major in risk management. After moving back closer to home, JJ began working, but he also did side projects for select friends and family. A fence here, a deck there, it wasn’t long until JJ realized he enjoyed working with his hands more than sitting behind a desk. JJ stepped away from the corporate world and began working as a Master Builder in the custom furniture business. After honing his craft, JJ has now opened his own shop, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Custom furniture, flooring, fireplace mantles, cutting boards, accent walls….anything wood is what JJ does. He and his team build each and every piece by hand, and each piece is guaranteed to meet the customer’s satisfaction. No one else can say that in Oxford. He is proud to be serving the people of this area and he says, “We can’t wait to make your vision a reality.”

Steve Cochran, Oxford, MS

“I enjoy taking special moments or images and creating them into works of art with a less than traditional spin on them. I have always been a huge admirer of new and innovative takes on artwork. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to own an original piece of artwork in a world where it has become so easy to mass produce works. No piece has ever been repeated. If you own one of my pieces, there is a guarantee that no one else will ever own a canvas piece like yours. I’m able to make prints, if requested. I also thoroughly enjoy taking special moments from one’s life that have been captured in that special snapshot or photograph, and turning into a custom piece with my unique twist added to it.” – Steve Cochran
