Chad Kelly Inks 4-Year Deal With Broncos

According to Broncos reporter Mike Klis, former Ole Miss Rebel QB Chad Kelly has signed a 4-year deal with the Denver Broncos.

Kelly was 2017’s “Mr. Irrelevant” as he was selected with the final pick in the NFL Draft by the Broncos. With just two other quarterbacks on the roster, both of whom have little experience, Kelly has a realistic chance to earn a spot on the Broncos’ 53-man roster. While the contract doesn’t guarantee Kelly a spot, it shows that the Broncos’ brass is behind him, even as he recovers from his recent wrist surgery.
After the draft, GM John Elway noted that the team may bring in a “camp arm” until Kelly is ready to go. If Kelly can fully recover from his ACL and wrist injuries, no one in Oxford will be surprised if he sheds his “Mr. Irrelevant” label.
If he is unable to secure a spot on the roster, a spot on the practice squad may await Kelly for a year of learning and maturing before getting another shot at making the active roster.
