After throwing for a career-high 367 yards and three touchdowns in last Thursday’s 33-13 upset win at No. 3 Holmes, Northwest Mississippi’s Jack Abraham has been named the MACJC Offensive Player of the Week.
A 6-foot-1, 210-pound redshirt-freshman quarterback from Oxford, Abraham is Northwest’s first conference player of the week honoree this season.
Abraham completed 20-of-26 passes, to eight different receivers, for 367 yards, three touchdowns and one interception (off a deflection). His favorite target, JaVonta Payton, hauled in nine of those passes for 130 yards and two scores.
Through five weeks, Abraham ranks fifth in the NJCAA in passing yards/game (267), T-8th in touchdown passes (eight), eighth in completion percentage (64.5) and 13th in passing yards (1,068).
The No. 11 Rangers (3-1, 2-1 MACJC) host Coahoma (1-4, 0-2) on Thursday at Bobby Franklin Field at 6:30.
