The No. 10-ranked Ole Miss Rifle team set a school record in a 4669-4660 win against No. 9 Nebraska Sunday at the Ohio State Rifle Range.
On Saturday, the Rebels broke the previous record from 2006 in their loss to Ohio State, and it didn’t last 24 hours, as they topped it Sunday to improve to 4-2 in the Great America Rifle Conference.
Smallbore Results
The Rebels posted a 2312 compared to 2311 for Nebraska in smallbore. Jessica Haig led Ole Miss with a 580. Abby Buesseler fired a 579. Randi Loudin (577), and Harley Gardner (576) rounded out the counters for the Rebels.
Air Rifle Results
In air rifle, Ole Miss tallied a 2357, eight points above Ohio State’s 2349. Buesseler led the Rebels with a 590. Haig (589), Emily Cock (589) and Kamilla Kisch (589) rounded out the air scores for the Rebels.
The Huskers were led by Samantha Peterson’s 590 in air rifle and Nina Radulovic’s 580 in smallbore.
Marsha’s Minute
“Wow! It is great to see the team set and then break the school record on consecutive days,” head coach Marsha Beasley said. “I’m so happy to see the girls shoot well in back-to-back matches, especially considering the travel challenges we faced on this trip. We didn’t finish our match until 9:30 p.m., last night and four girls competed again at 8:30 a.m., this morning.
“Again, today we saw a personal best – Sophia Cuozzo’s 575 in smallbore. Four other team members were within one point of their personal best in one of the parts of the match. This was very much a team effort with everyone contributing to our success. I was impressed with how we handled the match.
I am so proud of the team – they really have been working hard and it is paying off. I think everyone sees places where we can improve and we will be working to pick up more points in the coming weeks.”

The Rebels will travel to Fairbanks, Alaska to face Alaska-Fairbanks January 19.
